Design Principal - DRDS
January 2008 until present (16 years 4 months) - Los Angeles/Minneapolis

Mr. Davis is a founding partner of DRDS, a design oriented architectural practice working on large scale projects internationally. His firm has been an integral part of many award winning projects across the United States, Asia and the Middle East. The firm places emphasis on innovative and high-value design solutions. Expertise includes corporate, commercial, mixed-use, residential, academic, research, healthcare, civic, sports, exhibition and master planning. DRDS has realized more than 25 built works achieving individually tailored designs for International clients. Successful collaborations with domestic and foreign teams have led to award winning competitions and commissioned work internationally. Paul's work has been featured in Architecture, Architectural Record, Business Week Magazine, L’ARCA, MARK Magazine, World Architecture, Interior Design Magazine and the New York Times. He is also a recipient of Interior Design Magazine’s “Future Furniture Award”. He has received 2 American Architecture Awards from the Chicago Athenaeum and 11 AIA Design Awards from the American Institute of Architects for designs including NHN - Green Factory, Hamyang Four Season’s Eco Resort, Paul Brown Stadium, Hiroshima Ballpark and Hwaseong Stadium + Sports Complex. He also received Progressive Architecture Magazine’s Young Architect Award, a national citation for achievement in architecture.

Design Director - Gensler
March 2020 until July 2023 (3 years 5 months) - Los Angeles, California

As a Design Director with Gensler, Paul leads the design of multiple large-scale commercial, mixed-use and sports projects for the firm. Recent projects include a new HQ/Training Facility for the LA Chargers NFL team in Southern California which is opening in the summer of 2024. The project was headline news in the LA Times and debuted on Monday Night Football in 2021. In addition to LA-based work, he also provides leadership on large scale sports projects in China, working closely with the Beijing and Shanghai offices. He brings his international style and western influence to projects in Asia. His commitment to collaborative design coupled with his reputation in South Korea have led to new project opportunities for the firm including a 45-storey residential mixed-use project in Busan, KR, and a new R+D facility with SAMSUNG Electronics.

 

 

Principal/Design Leader - NBBJ
October 1996/December 2007 (11 years 3 months) - Los Angeles, California

Former Principal and Design Leader of NBBJ's Los Angeles Practice. Responsible for multiple building types including sports, entertainment, corporate, commercial, civic, cultural, residential, healthcare and master planning. Worked closely for 7 years with NBBJ’s  Sports + Entertainment founder Ron Turner with whom he designed the award winning Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio USA which received an American Architecture Award and is ranked 101 by the Wall street Journal in an AIA poll of the best 150 buildings in America. He opened a new office for NBBJ in Westwood, California in 2004 and worked with colleagues and the Partnership including CEO Steve McConnell to build a successful 40 person office over a span of 4 years. The profit percentage of NBBJ’s new LA office was the 2nd highest of 14 studios for 2 years. The office was highly successful in the the Asian market, building a reputation for NBBJ in Korea with companies like SAMSUNG, HYUNDAI, NHN, CJ Entertainment and Hong Kong’s premiere convention/concert venue AsiaWorld-EXPO.  

Senior Project Designer - Ellerbe Becket
May 1986/October 1996 (10 years 6 months) - Minneapolis, Minnesota

Mr. Davis began his career in the medical division of Ellerbe Becket and worked on a variety of facilities ranging from diagnostic and treatment towers, emergency wards, medical office buildings and elderly care facilities. He was instrumental in the development of 3D computer design and animation for the firm leading to working relationships with Design Principals in multiple office locations including Minneapolis, New York, Los Angeles and Kansas City. He pent significant amounts of time working with Principals Peter Pran, Carlos Zapata, Richard Varda and Mic Johnson during a point of Ellerbe Becket when they established an international reputation as a high design firm. Project experience included many of the firm’s most high profile projects including Kingdom Centre, Carlson School of Management and the competition winning New York Police Academy.
